Sterling silver brooches are fun to wear. They are one jewelry accessory any woman can wear anywhere. By turning or moving the same brooch, a woman can get a different look, draw the eye to a different place or make a different statement. Silver brooches on the lapel collar of a suite or jacket make a fashion statement. I like to also wear them on winter coats and change them for the holidays.
Wear sterling silver brooches on your favorite scarf or pin them onto hats. You can be creative with brooches by trying them on other items as well
Did you know-------The invention of the sewing machine in 1860-1870 provided the "ready-made" less-expensive garments. These garments were a gateway to a great many fashions for both men and women and called for more and more accessories. The cloaks and wraps, mantles and shawls for an "eveningout" called for many clasps and center brooches. Jewelry for the 1st time was made available to all in matched sets or "parures". These "parures" were made up of necklaces, brooches, pins and earrings. The jewelry was usually gold or ornamented black enamel work with settings of garnet, jet, seed-pearls. Cameos were popular along with coral, jade and amber.
